Getting Caught Up....

My scrapbook friends know that I try to scrapbook a two page spread for each month of the year.  I then, make two more sets to give to my mom and my mother-in-law.  It was a great idea when we (my sister and sisters-in-law) started doing this a few years ago... but now I am so far behind, I am trying not to feel overwhelmed.  So, if a lot of time passes between my blogging posts, just send good thoughts my way that I am getting a lot of scrapbooking accomplished.  I tend to labor over my pages.  Often I wish I was speedy like my friend Tracy--she can whip out pages like no one, and they are all fantastic!
The Love Impressions designer series paper is on the Clearance Rack right now!  You can get this fantastic set of paper (12 sheets) for only $4.79 with preferred pricing.  The matching rub-ons are only $1.59.  You can check out the clearance rack HERE.  Send me an email, or call with any questions. Also, if you would ever like to scrapbook with me, just let me know.  It is so much more fun to scrapbook with friends!

Glitz and Glimmer

I saw a little girl's shirt which inspired me to make this card.  It's terrible, when I am not making something, I am thinking about making something.... Sometimes I feel I see the world through card-shaped glasses!
This shirt was streaked with bright pink, orange and yellow with rhinestone hearts all over.  Here, I have tried to recreate the look by going direct to the paper with Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight ink pads.  I used sticky notes in between the stripes to maintain a clean white area.  The heart is over-the-top with shimmer!  After punching the heart, I gave it a coating of Versamark, Heat & Stick powder, and Dazzling Diamonds.  Surrounding the heart with Basic Rhinestones gave it even more sparkle.  The sentiment is coated exactly like the heart with Dazzling Diamonds.  If you like sparkles, this is certainly a great way to get your fix!

Supplies:
Card stock: Melon Mambo, Glossy White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Versamark
Other: Heat Tool, Heat & Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Basic Rhinestones, 5/8" Organza Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

So old, it's vintage!

If you are in our local demonstrator group, you will recognize this card from awhile ago.  I made this card for a card swap we had at one of our demonstrator meetings.  I love antiques and the vintage look, but I struggle with making a vintage-style card.  What do you think?  Does it look vintage, or soiled?  This card uses the I {Heart} Hearts set and the Broadsheet Alphabet set.  I love the clear blocks for stamping letters--simply line up all of the letters on one block, and stamp once to get the desired word.

I photographed this card several times and still am not sure I like the way it appears.  The colors are very soft, and I struggled with the lighting.  I think I may have to build a light box if I am going to continue posting pictures of cards. If you have any suggestions, let me know! :)

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Sending Lots of Love

Happy Monday!  I am on a roll with oldies but goodies.  Here is another Valentine that needs a good home besides mine!

I have had this card sitting around for such a long time.  I was so happy with the way it turned out, that I just couldn't put it in the mail.  There are not a lot of details to explain.  The base is a standard A2 card with the top corners rounded and a small piece cut away from the bottom to form the legs of the mail box.  The rest of the mail box is made with layered rectangles, small circle punches for the rivets and the Word Window punch for the handle.  The key to making the mailbox look realistic is the sponging.  I used blue on the edges and white in the center areas to resemble oxidization.  The sentiment, "Sending extra love your way," from the Messages for Mom stamp set goes perfect with this card.
Email me if you have any questions!

Punch Monkey!

Here is another card I have had sitting around for awhile... Since Valentine's day is just around the corner, I can't wait to put this in the mail.

I originally made this as a birthday card for my niece who loves monkeys.  Her version was pink and green with lots of flowers.  Here, I have used hearts with Real Red card stock to make it perfect for Valentine's day.

List of the punches used on the monkey:
Monkey face:   Extra-large oval
Ears:    3/4" circle
Body:   Large oval
Arms and legs:   Extra-wide oval (punch a second time to get a thin oval sliver)
Hands and feet:   Boho Blossoms
Tail:   branch from the Bird Builder punch.

I have you any questions, feel free to send me an email.  I will be happy to give you more detailed instructions.

Hello,.. is it me you're looking for?

Well, maybe not...
But, if you're looking from me.. here I am!

I had to take a hiatus from blogging for awhile and went "underground."

After not blogging for awhile, I decided I missed it.  I have never been one to keep a journal, and this is the closest thing I have to one.  I am able to record my projects here, and then I don't mind if I give them away.  Which, by the way, is the whole purpose of making things, isn't it?

While I may not be a consistent blogger, I do like to share with you what I do.  I hope you enjoy my inconsistent posts and when you have time, let me know what is going on in your world along the way.  If you don't hear from me for awhile, it probably means I am studying for some classes that I am taking right now.  (And yes, this is also a great way to procrastinate my studying!)

I haven't been doing a lot of card making lately, but I am trying to get caught up on scrapbooking.  Eventually, I will post some of my pages.  In the meantime, here is a card that I haven't posted, so I thought I would share it with you.  If you would like the details, send me an email and I will send the instructions to you.

Tom Turkey Translation

I sometimes find myself looking at the world in terms of cards.  This card is one example... I saw a sweatshirt here that I thought would translate into a fun card, so here is my translation.  He is a bit quirky.  I  laugh whenever I see a flock of turkeys. I think real turkeys are probably a bit quirky too!

The head is made using the Top Note die with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The remaining parts are quickly punched using the punches listed below.

Give me a call or email if you would like to stamp with me!
Have a great day!
